Spring Cleaning the Yard

NORTH WILDWOOD—It may not last, but for now spring is here!

People everywhere are lubricating their lawnmowers and sharpening their hedge trimmers.

They’ll soon be looking over a manicured lawn, wondering what to do with mounds of yard waste.

In this City there are rules, but it’s easy:

Dispose of grass clippings along with your household trash. Just mix it in with the garbage in trash bags and put the bags in trash cans for collection. Do not put grass out loose in a trash can by itself.

And for other yard waste like clippings from bushes, the Department of Public Works offers a dumpster at the Convenience Center, 511 W Oak Ave. in Anglesea. You may bring this type of yard waste and put it in the dumpster for disposal.

Do not use plastic bags since this dumpster can take only biodegradable material. Also do not dump dirt or stumps in this dumpster. Either dump the debris from a can or have it packed in paper recycle bags.

If you have tree branches, they must be cut to no more than 4 feet long and bundled with rope or electrical tape. Put them next to your trash on the first trash day of the week. Public Works employees will collect them.

That’s all there is to it!
