NJDEP APPROVES CITY OF NORTH WILDWOOD [br] COMMUNITY FORESTRY AND VEGETATION MANAGEMENT PLANS
North Wildwood – Mayor Patrick Rosenello and the members of North Wildwood City Council are proud to announce that as of Wednesday, May 25th, 2016, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has approved the Community Forestry and Vegetation Management Plans of the City of North Wildwood. These plans will serve as the regulatory standards for the planting, removal and maintenance of all trees and vegetation on public property within the City of North Wildwood, including the beach and dune system.
The approval of these plans by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection also come with monetary benefits, as the City will receive $3000 to offset the costs incurred for creating the plans, from a Green Communities Grant that was awarded to the City in March of 2015.
In response to the DEPs recent approval of the plans, Mayor Patrick Rosenello stated, “I would like to thank Peter Lomax, of Lomax Consulting Services, and our city employees for their tireless efforts to create the Community Forestry and Vegetation Management Plans, which address in detail the city’s unique and complex landscape/ecosystem. These plans will assist us in future dune maintenance, as well as the eradication of invasive species of plants and vegetation such as poison ivy and phragmites, known to be detrimental to our more native vegetation.”
