North Wildwood Anticipating Flooding Friday and Saturday, October 2nd – 3rd

IMPENDING FLOODING ANTICIPATED FOR FRIDAY MORNING

North Wildwood – North Wildwood City Officials are warning the public of tidal flooding, due to an approaching low pressure system that is forecast to occur Friday, October 2nd and Saturday, October 3rd. This weather event is a separate event from the approaching Hurricane, and will impact North Wildwood within the next 48 hours. The high tide on Friday will occur at approximately noon, then again around midnight Friday and Saturday after noon.

Today at 12:00 p.m., The National Weather Service announced the potential for record breaking tidal flooding to occur this Friday and Saturday, when tides could exceed 9 feet. By way of comparison, the highest tide measured during Super Storm Sandy was 8.9 feet.

“Flooding is a major concern when you live in a coastal environment like North Wildwood, and our main priority as a City government is the safety of our residents and property owners,” said Mayor Patrick Rosenello. “With the anticipated weather report, residents are warned to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and their properties,” said Mayor Rosenello.
