North Wildwood – At its regular meeting on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, City Council appointed City Clerk W. Scott Jett as the City Historian of North Wildwood, NJ.

Scott was born and raised in North Wildwood and has an abundance of local family history. Jett’s mother’s family arrived on the island from Maryland in 1915. His mother, Ronnie Jett, was even born in a home on W. 18th Avenue.

Jett’s father’s side of the family arrived in 1953 seeking work in the booming fishing industry. His father, William F. Jett, became a police officer, climbing to the rank of sergeant. “My family’s long history gives me a lot of insight into the early days of North Wildwood,” said Scott Jett.

Scott Jett’s first order of business as City Historian was to present his findings in the annual report at the Council meeting on Tuesday night, March 3 as dictated by N.J.S.A. 40:10A-7b. Although only being appointed a couple weeks ago, he has already been involved in historical restoration and preservation projects for the City in his capacity as City Clerk, the official record keeper of North Wildwood. City Historian Jett is also researching grants for historical markers and has a special surprise in store for Margaret Mace School at the Council meeting on March 17, 2015.

“I have been working with Scott for years in my career as an elected official, and I can honestly say no one could serve better than Mr. Jett as our City Historian,” said Mayor Patrick Rosenello. “We are privileged to have someone so dedicated to historical preservation in the position of City Historian.” For more information and the full report, please click here.
