On the first anniversary of Super Storm Sandy, we’re all considering ways to avoid disaster when the next extreme weather event arrives.

Some modifications you make to your property can not only prevent damage, but also save money on flood insurance premiums that have been increasing due to National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) reforms.

One is called “flood vents,” which are installed on the lowest level of your property. They allow for the automatic entry and exit of flood waters.

They protect houses and buildings in flood-prone areas by preventing water pressure buildup that can destroy walls and foundations.

Smart Vent Products, Inc. has announced that they are offering free estimates for installing Smart Vents in their Flood Risk Assessment Service.
