
Snow Removal Information

- Pre-Storm
- If the weather calls for dry conditions before the snow is expected to fall, the brine truck will be sent out to all North-South streets first, followed by the East-West streets and lastly the alleys and lanes.
- If the weather calls for wet conditions before the snow, the salt trucks will be sent out to salt the North-South streets first, followed by the East-West streets and lastly the alleys and lanes.
- Beach entrances are to be closed off to public vehicles until deemed safe to re-open by the Superintendent of Public Works or his designee.
- Storm
- No plowing is to start until there is at least 2 inches on the ground or if directed to begin by the Superintendent of Public Works or his designee.
- The snow plow routes are attached and color coded. This is to be used as a guide and may vary from storm to storm based on conditions.
- Three (3) trucks, if available, are to plow the North-South streets, curb to curb except for Surf Ave.
- Two (2) small truck, if available, are to plow the East-West side streets. They plow with one pass down each side of the road from the centerline out before moving onto the next road. Crews will begin plowing the East-West streets starting from Spruce Ave., working south. There is no curb to curb clearing of side streets until all streets are plowed at least once, the snow lets up or as directed by the Superintendent of Public Works or his designee.
- Plows on the trucks are set up to plow with the curve of the street to prevent melting snow from draining back onto the streets and becoming an ice hazard.
- When plowing is halted, all salt routes must be reapplied beginning with North-South streets, followed by East-West streets and lastly the alleys and lanes.
- If plowing for 10 hours continuously, the Superintendent of Public Works or his designee may allow workers take an extended rest break of 8 hours or let them go home for safety reasons.
- All 200+ residential on-street handicapped parking spaces and large piles in front of fire hydrants will be cleared after all main road are deemed passable or as directed by the Superintendent of Public Works or his designee.
- All overly large piles of snow will be removed as soon as they are able attend to the piles as directed by the Superintendent of Public Works or his designee.
- Other Storm Reminders
- If possible, we ask that all vehicles be placed in your off-street parking spaces, so that plows can clear snow as close to the curb as possible.
- If you need to drive on the City streets, we ask that you please exercise caution. We also ask that you please maintain a safe distance from any plow, brine, or salt trucks so they may operate effectively to clear the roadways.
- The City of North Wildwood designated Snow Emergency Streets are as follows:
- Entire length of New Jersey Ave.
- Entire length of Atlantic Ave.
- 12th and 13th Aves. between Atlantic and Surf Aves.
- 15th and 16th Aves. between New Jersey and Central Aves.
- 25th Ave. between Central Ave. to a point 280 feet west of Central Ave.
- Central Ave. between 15th-16th Aves. and 25th-26th Aves.
- vii.Surf Ave. between 12th-13th Aves.
- Please do not park any vehicles on the Snow Emergency Streets until the street is no longer covered with snow. Any vehicle parked on the Snow Emergency Streets may be towed.
- When clearing your property of any snow, we ask that you keep any piled up snow clear of the streets and sidewalks.
- Our Department of Public Works and Buildings & Grounds are working diligently to clear access ways in all City buildings, including North Wildwood City Hall and the Recreation Center.
- The North Wildwood City Departments may assist senior citizen and disabled residents with clearing the driveway apron only from the street up to the curb AFTER they complete clearing snow from other priority areas in the City. This assistance will go into effect only AFTER 2 inches of snow have fallen in the ground. To be eligible to request assistance, you must be home at your North Wildwood residence. If you need to request assistance, please call our Department of Public Works at (609) 522-4646. The crews will remove snow only during hours of operation (7am-2pm). Public Works will place your request on a schedule as calls are received and will service your property when available. There is no guaranteed times when crews will arrive at a residence. Senior citizens and disabled residents must call the Department of Public Works after the snowfall in order to be placed on the schedule.

AFTER they complete clearing snow from other priority areas in the City. This assistance will go into effect only AFTER 2 inches of snow have fallen in the ground. To be eligible to request assistance, you must be home at your North Wildwood residence. If you need to request assistance, please call our Department of Public Works at (609) 522-4646. The crews will remove snow only during hours of operation (7am-2pm). Public Works will place your request on a schedule as calls are received and will service your property when available. There is no guaranteed times when crews will arrive at a residence. Senior citizens and disabled residents must call the Department of Public Works after the snowfall in order to be placed on the schedule.
