NORTH WILDWOOD EMERGENCY BEACH NOURISHMENT DREDGING PROJECT COMPLETION AND SAFETY UPDATE

Just 21 days after the dredge arrived in Hereford Inlet and began pumping sand onto North Wildwood’s beaches, the NJDOT-led dredging is officially complete. Over 750,000 cubic yards of sand was dredged and placed onto the City’s Inlet and Front Beaches.

Mayor Patrick Rosenello, North Wildwood City Council, and all our Departments would like to thank Governor Phil Murphy, the New Jersey Department of Transportation senior leadership, the Office of Maritime Resources, their design and survey teams and their contractors, H & L Contracting and Great Lakes Dredge and Dock, and all of their staff for their hard work and dedication to put this project together, protect our transportation infrastructure and renourish our beautiful beaches. Mayor Rosenello, City Council, City Administration and NJDOT staff would also like to thank all City departments for being very flexible to assist the contractors and keeping everyone safe from the construction area.

The contractors for the NJDOT are in the process of demobilizing their equipment. During that time, the Beach Accessways at 16th and 17th Aves. will remain closed until all of their equipment has safely been removed. The contractors expect to have all of their equipment removed by the week of July 1.

In addition, the City is in the process of restoring any Beach Accessways that were impacted as a result of the Beach Nourishment Project. There may be some temporary closures of a Beach Accessway during the time it is being restored. We apologize for any brief inconvenience.

Thank you all for your cooperation and support through the duration of the project. We hope you all enjoy our new and improved beaches!
