[br] North Wildwood – The City of North Wildwood Office of Emergency Management (OEM) received a Civilian Emergency Response Trailer from Cape May County Office of Emergency Management on Thursday, August 27th, 2015, outside of North Wildwood City Hall. The trailer was acquired after Doug Ford, Superintendent of Building Parks and Grounds, and Lewis Ostrander of North Wildwood Fire and Housing discussed CERT program participation, and subsequently organized course registration for various employees (9 total) from the Buildings, Parks and Grounds Department of North Wildwood, NJ.

The training was held at the Cape May County Office of Emergency Management Building in Cape May Court House and consisted of 8 training classes. Training class curriculum consisted of: CERT orientation, Disaster Preparedness, Disaster Medical Operations I, Disaster Medical Operations II, Light Search and Rescue, Disaster Psychology, Terrorism and CERT awareness, Course Review and Disaster simulation. The classes began in June and finished in July with a graduation ceremony, where each participating member received a certificate of achievement and CERT bag filled with safety equipment, to be worn during an emergency.

The newly acquired trailer will be equipped with specialized tools and equipment that CERT team members have been trained to use, based upon the jobs that they do in their everyday work for the City of North Wildwood. The trailer will be housed in North Wildwood under the direction of NW OEM Coordinator Robert Matteucci and Cape May County OEM Director Martin Pagliughi. The trailer will primarily be utilized in case of an emergency in North Wildwood, but the trailer and team can also be utilized throughout Cape May County given the emergency.
