Flag_at_Half-Staff_onlyOn behalf of the Henfey family, it is with great sadness that the City of North Wildwood announces the passing of the City’s former Mayor Bill Henfey, who served as Mayor from 2006 – 2013 and as Councilman for 12 years from 1994 – 2005. Bill passed this morning surrounded by family and friends at his home.

Mayor Henfey’s greatest professional accomplishment has been the infrastructure he has helped to build and influence. Since 2006, the City has completed over 75 infrastructure projects, ranging from complete street reconstruction, to beach replenishment and completing the sea wall. Among his additional dedicated efforts to the City, Bill served as a Patrolman for the North Wildwood Police Department for nine years, and later served as a detective. As Mayor, Bill Henfey focused his attention while in office to improving the community, always saying, “He wanted to improve the quality of life in North Wildwood”, and all can attest that he has certainly done just that.

As of October 21, 2014 8:00 a.m., Mayor Patrick Rosenello has ordered all flags in the City of North Wildwood be flown at half-mast, as a symbol of respect and mourning for the passing of former Mayor Henfey. Additional information on remembrance services will be provided in the days to come. Bill is survived by his wife Diane, son William Jr., daughter Jennifer, 2 granddaughters, Chase and Molly, and 1 grandson, Henry
