North Wildwood Mayor Patrick Rosenello announced that on Saturday, March 16, 2024, John Stevenson, Police Chief of the North Wildwood Police Department, will be honored as the Grand Marshal for the 2024 North Wildwood St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Chief Stevenson began his career with the North Wildwood Police Department in 1993 as a Special Law Enforcement Officer. He has served in numerous roles with the Department over his 31 year career, including the last three (3) years as Police Chief. Chief Stevenson will be retiring from his post on April 30, 2024.

Outside of his duties with the Police Department, Chief Stevenson is the founder and former President of both the Anglesea Irish Society and Second Street Irish Society in Philadelphia, PA. He was granted lifetime memberships by each organization and received numerous accolades in both, including the Founder Award, Man of the Year Award, and first Inductee into the Irish Society Hall of Fame. Chief Stevenson is also the past president of the Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Observance Association, where he is a member of the Ring of Honor, and serves as a member in the Cape May County AOH Division #1, Greater Wildwood Elks Lodge #1896, and Cape May County FOP Lodge #7.

“The City of North Wildwood is extremely appreciative of Chief Stevenson’s dedication and service to the North Wildwood Police Department,” said Mayor Patrick Rosenello. “It is our honor to have Chief Stevenson serve as our Grand Marshal, and we are looking forward to honoring not only the Stevenson family Irish heritage, but all of the members of Law Enforcement at our St Patrick’s Day Parade.”

The North Wildwood St. Patrick’s Day Ceremony and Parade will kick-off at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 16th, 2024 on the outside steps of North Wildwood City Hall, 901 Atlantic Avenue, North Wildwood, NJ 08260. Parade to follow the ceremony, marching West down 9th Avenue to Central Avenue, then proceed on the East side of Central Avenue to Spruce & Olde New Jersey Avenues. The parade will then march South on Olde New Jersey Ave. down the Entertainment District. A Catholic Mass honoring Irish Heritage will also be held at St. Ann Church of Notre Dame La Mer Parish in Wildwood at 10 a.m. preceding the ceremony.

In the case of rain, ceremony and festivities will be moved to the inside of the North Wildwood Recreation Center located at 9th and Central Avenues.
