North Wildwood – In a letter received by the City from FEMA and Federal Insurance and Mitigation Administration CRS Coordinator William Lesser, it was announced that the City of North Wildwood will retain its current rating as a Class 6 in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) Community Rating System (CRS).

As a result, residents may be eligible to receive a 20 percent discount for most NFIP policies issued or renewed on or after April 1, 2024. This rating and insurance savings are a result of flood mitigation activities implemented throughout the City to protect lives and reduce property damage, such as our flood warnings and response, maintenance to our drainage systems, outreach projects, and many other activities.

Based on our previous flood mitigation efforts, the City of North Wildwood has saved residents a total of approximately $797,000 per year on flood insurance premiums.

“This is a very important designation for the City and its residents,” said Mayor Patrick Rosenello. “With the rising costs of flood insurance, it is extremely critical to do what we can to lower the cost to make it more manageable for our property owners by engaging in flood mitigation initiatives.”
